6 Health Issues You Can Get From The Office & How to CureEveryone wants an office job, but have you ever though what an office job might do to your health? The answer is surprising! Here are seven health issues that may arise from the typical office job that you may have never considered.

1. Asthma or Allergies from Poor Indoor Air Quality

Have you ever heard of sick building syndrome (SBS)? Well, it’s a true illness and common in people who work in older or poorly ventilated or designed buildings. If you’ve ever gone to work and felt bad all day and felt great when you left the building, it could be due to poor air quality.

Cure: To cure SBS, you can find another job in a better ventilated building, or your employer can start an indoor air quality investigation to check for radon and other contaminants. The investigation may involve investigating the occupants’ habits, the HVAC system, pollutant pathways, and contaminant sources and correcting the issue with upgrades.

2. Hemorrhoids

If you sit all day, and you don’t consume proper nutrients, you may be at risk for hemorrhoids.

Cure: Sufferers can try over-the-counter products like H-Hemorrhoids formula, a hemorrhoid natural treatment, that reduce inflammation and shrinks internal and external hemorrhoids naturally. Preparation H and sitting on a donut cushion can also provide relief.

3. Carpel Tunnel Syndrome

Varicose veins
are characterized by small blue veins in the legs due to weakened valves that keep the blood from flowing properly. When the blood collects, and the veins become weak and enlarged, varicose veins develop.

Cure: Some physicians will suggest patients wear compression stockings, or they should elevate the legs. Avoid long periods of standing and get plenty of exercise. Laser treatment, sclerotherapy, radiofrequency, and surgery are recommended to destroy, remove, or close off the veins.

4. Eye Fatigue

Eye fatigue, asthenopia, or computer vision syndrome (CVS) can be a result of staring at the computer screen for too long or from the glare. Many people develop headaches, dizziness, dry eyes, itchy eyes, or watery eyes.

Cure: Prevention is the cure. Place the screen 20 to 26 inches from the eyes. Clean dust and fingerprints off the screen regularly. Use a glare screen to minimize it. Select screens that swivel and tilt.

5. Obesity

A sedentary lifestyle can cause you to pack on the pounds. If you’re eating unhealthy and sitting at your desk all day, it’s a recipe for weight gain.

Cure: Request a standing desk. More people are requesting these desks because they can stand and type and sit when they feel fatigue. It’s ergonomic and friendly to the body. Walk as much as often during the day. Walk during your lunch break or walk to your co-worker’s desk to deliver a message. Eat plenty of fruits and veggies and drink lots of water during the day.

6. Insomnia

People who work office jobs may develop insomnia because they are not exercising enough, they’re worried, or they’re stressed.

Cure: Exercise more, eat right, and meditate to relieve the stress. Take a mild sedative if necessary.

Be aware of these seven health issues and take corrective steps to be healthier in 2014. You’ll feel better at your office job and be more productive. Try it and share the results with your co-workers!
